Private Pilot License

->Overview

Forty hours of flight training are mandatory, but we have found in our experience that the average flight student needs about 50 to 60 hours.

->FAR Part 61.109 requires the following minimum number of hours:

->40 hours flight time consisting of:

->20 hours minimum flight training
->10 hours supervised solo flight training
->10 hours advanced training

The flight training can be completed within three weeks (for professionals) and four weeks for most others, assuming good weather for the entire period.

When paired with a valid medical certificate and the required periodic flight review, the US PPL is valid for life. It is also a fairly simple matter to reactivate an inactive license. To do this, you will need a new, valid medical and a flight review with an flight instructor.

Pilots must complete a flight review every 24 month which includes a minimum of 1 hour of flight and 1 hour of Ground instruction.
